While Bollywood movies have ruined us for life by raising our expectations way too high for love, these real-life couples give us some faith that there’s a real shot of finding Mr. Right. Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone
There is no doubt these two are the #1 couple in Bollywood right now. They prove that there’s no blueprint to love, and that venturing outside of your “type” could lead to something truly special.
When Deepika first met Ranveer, she was totally convinced he wasn’t her type and didn’t take him seriously. She had just hit her stride as an actress at the top of her game and was still recovering from the fairly public heartbreak of her last relationship. While Ranveer was all in right from the start, she approached it as a fun, casual fling with a goofy guy and wasn’t ready to trust someone new just yet. Cue every Ranveer Singh antic ever – his outlandish and charming personality helped Deepika open up a little more, and her reserved personality and discipline helped bring some stability to his life. Now they’re one year into happy wedded life, and Ranveer still can’t stop gushing over his wife’s gorgeous Instagram pics – I mean, what else do you need in a good husband?!
Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli
Cricket x Bollywood couples are the epitome of Indian royalty, and Anushka and Virat are the ultimate match. These two work because they stay true to themselves and don’t let the opinions of other people get in the way of their relationship. At one point it was rumored that they broke up because the entire country was (ridiculously) convinced that Anushka Sharma was a “bad luck charm” for Virat, and that’s why India kept losing matches. That’s a lot of pressure to put on a young couple, and while it temporarily kept them apart, they eventually got back together and decided to face the world together. They went on to win everyone over with a gorgeous secret wedding in Italy, and now we can’t get enough of them!

Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan
Okay, we know this one’s an odd choice because of the whole age difference thing, but hear us out. Listening to these two talk about each other in interviews just makes our hearts melt. They fell in love hard and fast, which can often be a warning sign that the relationship might fizzle out just as quickly, but they’re the real deal. Kareena is arguably the more successful partner in the couple, but they don’t let their egos get in the way and have so much mutual respect for each other. They navigate messy relationships with exes, are raising a child together, and being good step parents, all while continuing to support each other during the next phase of their careers.
