Meet Lakshna and Puneet: she’s Jersey born, LA based, and always ready with a sarcastic one liner. He’s an Iowa raised, Atlanta living globe trotter with a soft spot for soccer and spicy Thai food. The one thing they definitely had in common? They both checked Tamil on their Dil Mil profiles. And that made all the difference.
It all started in November 2022, when Puneet swiped right and messaged Lakshna. But plot twist, she was solo traveling in Mexico and didn’t reply for two weeks. (Oops.) By the time she did, he was off in Sierra Leone for work, casually FaceTiming her from Paris during a layover. No big deal.
Despite the timezone chaos, they clicked. Fast. Their conversations were deep, intentional, and often hilarious – especially when they spoke in Tamil. Their very first phone call became a running joke when Lakshna didn’t understand him at first and he hit her with: “Wait, do you even speak Tamil?” It turned into a playful competition of who had the better accent. (Still undecided, FYI.)
By December, they had both decided to stop “shopping around” and become exclusive even though they hadn’t met in person yet. That level of trust, alignment, and chemistry doesn’t come often.
Their first meeting finally happened on January 14, 2023, during Pongal. Puneet flew into LA, Lakshna picked him up from the airport, and nerves were high. She went silent. He wouldn’t stop talking. In her head she was like do I need to respond to this?! Classic meet cute chaos. But once they settled in, everything just clicked, from hikes at Joshua Tree to Lakers games and Malibu sunsets. It was giving main character energy, and they both knew it.
The next eight months were filled with frequent flyer miles, FaceTime calls, and food adventures in different cities. Lakshna eventually made the big move to Atlanta to be closer to Puneet and her family. They bonded over shared values, Tamil movie nights, and a love for intentional connection. By late 2023, they had introduced each other to their families and it was pretty clear this was it.
Their first international trip together was planned for early 2024 – Paris, London, and Belgium. But Puneet had a secret agenda: pop the question in Paris.
He pulled off the logistics like a seasoned Bollywood producer: brunch outfits to get her camera ready, a mid day flower shop stop, and a surprise setup back at the hotel. The room was filled with rose petals, heart shaped balloons, and a chocolate Eiffel Tower. He led her to the balcony, asked her to close her eyes, and when she opened them – there he was, down on one knee. She said yes (duh), and the rest of the week was full on fiancé bliss across Europe.
On February 2, 2025, Lakshna and Puneet tied the knot in Chennai at Rina’s Venue, a perfect blend of tradition, glam, and modern Tamil love. They’ve spent 2.5 years building something real: across cities, time zones, and cultures. From Tamil teasing and Facetime flirting to Eiffel Tower proposals and movie nights, this love story is proof that when it’s right, it really is right.
