Gurpreet and Soni first matched on Dil Mil in 2017 – it took a while for Gurpreet to respond to Soni, and even after they finally exchanged numbers things were going pretty slowly. They eventually stopped talking and a few months passed by, when suddenly Gurpreet texted Soni out of the blue! One of her family friends had actually shown her a picture of him as a rishta and she couldn’t believe the odds, especially given she was based in Pennsylvania and he was in New York.
It’s funny how someone sending you a rishta can inspire you to give someone a second chance and take control over the situation yourself. 😉 While normally we’re all about putting the rishta aunties out of business, we’re thankful for this exception that helped reignite a Dil Mil love.
They started talking again, and soon they met up for the first time. They continued to go on dates, each one being better than the last, and after 4-5 dates they eventually took a trip to DC together for the first time where they fell in love. Soon after, they knew it was time to share the news with the parents – Soni’s entire family went to meet Gurpreet’s family, and everyone couldn’t have been happier after they met (it didn’t hurt that they were both Punjabi).
Soni knew that Gurpreet was everything he’d ever wanted in a future wife – she was one of the most beautiful girls he’d met, and also one of the few people in his life that cared more about others than herself. They also had a ton in common, like their love of singing – “Jab Koi Baat” is the first song they ever sang together.
When it came time for the proposal, he knew this special song had to play a big part. He proposed to her on New Years Eve in 2018 as this song was playing and there were fireworks going off in the distance as the clock struck 12. The moment couldn’t have been more perfect, and of course she said yes! The beautiful couple tied the knot in July 2019. 💍 #OnceUponaDilMil Get On Dil Mil
